Sauce Honey-Orange BBQ Sauce

  • 1.5 cups ketchup
  • 1/2 cup apple cider vinegar
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 6 tablespoons honey
  • 2 tablepoons orange juice
  • 2 tablespoons pineapple juice
  • 1 tablespoon worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 1/2 tablespoon onion powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon garlic powder
  • 1/2 tablespoon black pepper
  • 1 tablespoon chili powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon ginger
  • 1/2 teaspoon red pepper
  • 1/2 teaspoon paprika
in medium saucepan combine all ingredients and bring to boil
reduce heat and simmer 30 minutes, stirring occasionally or until sauce thickens. Remove from heat and cool.

Sounds like a great recipe and one that I have already copied to my notepad. About the only change I will make is using minced garlic and onion as I don't like things that come out of a can. Thanks for this lesson!


This would be really good on chicken. It does sound a bit sweet to me. I will follow the recipe exactly as you have it and give it a try before I decide if I need to tone down the sweetness. Thanks for a great unique sauce!


Fruit and fruit juice works really well in barbecue sauce. Some people spray pineapple juice over the ribs while they are cooking. I use chopped apple and orange juice in my BBQ sauce. You could also use cherries and grapes.

I've not tried a sauce like this one before so will have to give it a try. It almost sounds like a sweet n sour sauce to me. Maybe I will do up some chicken in a few days and try it with that.
