Pappardelle Bolognese

Tried out this recipe last night, and it was amazing!

--2 tbsp butter
--2 tbsp olive oil
--2 lbs ground beef
--1/2 yellow onion, diced
--1/4 c carrots, diced
--1/4 c celery, diced
--2 cloves garlic, minced
--1 c beef broth
--1 c red wine
--3 c crushed tomatoes
--1/2 c heavy cream
--2 sprigs fresh basil, chopped
--1 bay leaf
--Parmesan cheese
--Salt and pepper to taste

Heat butter and olive oil in skillet. Add beef. Add carrots, onion, celery, and garlic. Cook until onions are translucent.

Add 1/2 the basil and bay leaf. Pour in red wine, allow to reduce. Add broth and tomatoes. Bring to a boil and reduce to a simmer. Allow to simmer, stirring occasionally, for one hour. Finish with heavy cream and remaining basil. Serve over pasta and top with cheese.
